Reduction of Visual Impairment with Elamipretide in Rodent Models of Diabetes, Aging, and Retinitis Pigmentosa

We have had success in reducing visual impairment in rodent models of aging and retinal disease, by targeting and improving mitochondrial function with a drug called Elamipretide. The results have already stimulated successful human clinical trials for visual indications, and the approach holds promise to extend the visual healthspan as we age.
