The Spinal Cord Injury Core (SCI Core) at Burke Neurological Institute (BNI) offers expertise on conducting spinal cord injury experiments and a facility with advanced equipment for scientific preclinical surgical and behavioral studies. BNI researches may request SCI Core expertise and/or use of the facility and equipment to conduct research studies.
SCI Core consists of a surgical suite (300 sq ft) and behavioral testing suite (120 sq ft) designed and built for preclinical spinal cord injury modeling and outfitted with all the necessary equipment for generating experimental SCI models.
Training is available for SCI injury modeling, post-surgical animal care, and behavioral testing. This service is available for free for SCI Core members and available for a fee to outside researchers.
SCI Core is available to assist in the design of SCI experiments to maximize the effectiveness of your treatment/strategy.
SCI Core is available to help generate preliminary data. Fees for this service will cover the cost of animals, their care and technician time.
