Biography
Clinically, regaining hand function is a high priority for people who suffer from injury; therefore my current research focuses on the evaluation of rodent forelimb function to assess corticospinal tract injury and repair. The lab has recently developed a device that specifically measures supination, in rodents, and I am working with Anil Sindhurakar, Ph.D. and Thelma Bethea, B.S. to determine the proper timing between motor training and brain stimulation, as a therapeutic. I am also working on a collaborative translational study with Kiki Yang, Ph.D., the Martin Lab at CCNY and the Harel Lab at Mt. Sinai School of Medicine. This study uses combined motor cortex and spinal cord stimulation to target spared connections after a partial injury and ultimately improve forelimb function.
