Dr. Gary Gibson and his colleagues presented a poster at the American Society for Mass Spectrometry in Minneapolis on CHIMERYS search engine with deep mining of chimeric spectra for enhanced in-depth brain proteome in Alzheimer’s Disease. CHIMERYS algorithm demonstrates an increased number of protein IDs and quantities of AD brain proteome in both TMT and LFQ datasets. CHMEIRYS shows 30% more DAPs of brain proteome in ADs over controls than Sequest HT from the same LFQ datasets, yielding in-depth proteome discovery for AD patients. Bioinformatics analyses reveal that CHIMERYS leads to a broader coverage of GO annotations, enriched pathways of DAPs, generating some unique pathway clusters in AD patients. The findings from CHIMERYS would be beneficial for potentially elucidating AD mechanisms and improving the therapy of AD patients.
