Abstract
In this talk, I will provide some background on developing an academic research career and building a research identity. I will provide an overview of the National Institutes of Health and other federal funding agencies with particular reference to medical rehabilitation. I will discuss NIH training and career development, research mechanisms, and other resources. I will provide some perspectives on grantsmanship and the peer review as well as clinical trial design and translational research.
