Job Description
The Burke Neurological Institute, an academic affiliate of Weill Cornell Medicine, is a nonprofit leading scientific research institute devoted to advancing the study of neurological diseases and injuries. The overarching goal of the Institute is to leverage the most innovative and highest quality neuroscience to restore brain and spinal cord function in those with neurological injury including stroke, spinal cord injury, traumatic brain injury, Alzheimer’s disease, age related macular degeneration. Twenty faculty funded by federal and private agencies work alongside 100 individuals on a beautiful 60-acre campus in White Plains, New York, 15 miles from the heart of New York City.
We have an exciting opportunity for you to join our team as a Clinical Research Coordinator (position) in the Laboratory for Language Development and Recovery at the Burke Neurological Institute in White Plains, NY. Our lab, directed by Katherine Travis, PhD is seeking to hire a clinical research coordinator to help develop and administer clinical studies aimed at improving neurocognitive and language outcomes in children born preterm.
The position is ideal for a candidate who wishes to gain additional research experience before applying to a graduate program in Neuroscience or Psychology with emphasis in human development. There may be opportunities to develop independent projects, attend conferences, and co-author manuscripts
Responsibilities
- Serve as primary contact with research participants, sponsors, and regulatory agencies. Coordinate studies from start-up through close-out.
- Determine eligibility of and gather consent from study participants according to protocol. Assist in developing recruitment strategies.
- Coordinate collection of study specimens and processing.
- Collect and manage patient and laboratory data for clinical research projects.
- Manage research project databases, develop flow sheets and other study related documents, and complete study documents/case report forms.
- Ensure compliance with research protocols, and review and audit case report forms for completion and accuracy with source documents. Prepare regulatory submissions, and ensure institutional Review Board renewals are completed.
- Interact with the principal investigator regularly, ensuring patient safety and adherence to proper study conduct.
- Ensure essential documentation and recording of patient and research data in appropriate files per institutional and regulatory requirements.
- Assist in data analyses, manuscript preparation and present research finding to internal audiences, including peers, co-workers, and managers.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in a related field (e.g., biology, psychology, neuroscience, or a healthcare-related discipline).
- Experience in a clinical or research environment as a student, intern, or employee
- Experience working with infants, young children and their families, including from low-income, ethnically diverse families
- Positive and professional attitude
- Experience with basic statistical software, such as SPSS or R (preferred)
- Familiarity with IRB guidelines and regulations
- Strong organizational skills with excellent attention to detail
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Ability to work collaboratively in a multidisciplinary research team.
- Strong problem-solving skills and ability to adapt to changing research needs.

Compensation
Salary Range: $50,000 to $60,000 annual non exempt position ; based on experience.
