BNI Welcomes Dr. Nicole Mercer Lindsay

Dr. Nicole Mercer Lindsay joins Burke Neurological Institute as the Director of the Laboratory for Systems Neuroscience of Pain. Dr. Mercer Lindsay brings exceptional expertise in neuroscience research and a distinguished track record of innovative investigations into pain mechanisms and therapeutic interventions.

Nicole earned her BA in Biological Sciences with a concentration in Neurobiology and Behavior from Cornell University, followed by her PhD in Neurobiology from the University of California, San Diego. Her doctoral dissertation, "Cortex drives orofacial behaviors through distinct brainstem networks," was completed under the mentorship of Dr. David Kleinfeld. Currently, she is completing her K99/R00 funded postdoctoral fellowship in Neuroscience at Stanford University and the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, working with renowned researchers Dr. Mark Schnitzer and Dr. Grégory Scherrer.

Dr. Mercer Lindsay's appointment represents a significant advancement in our institute's pain research capabilities for treatment and recovery from neurological injury.
