Location: Burke Medical Research Institute, White Plains, NY
Employer: Jian Zhong, Ph.D.
Job type: Full time
Position: Reserach technician
The Laboratory of Molecular Regeneration and Neuroimaging at the Burke-Cornell Medical Research Institute is seeking an enthusiastic and self-motivated Research Technician to join our team. Research in the Zhong lab aims to identify the molecular mechanisms that can drive axon regeneration and circuit repair after spinal cord injury. We rely on sophisticated genetically modified mouse models to pinpoint the crucial effectors of axon growth signaling pathways that could potentially be targeted for therapeutic intervention in patients.
The Research Technician will collaborate closely with Dr. Zhong and postdoctoral fellows in the lab. Basic responsibilities will be managing the mouse colony and PCR genotyping, as well as ordering supplies, maintaining equipment, and ensuring laboratory compliance. There will be ample opportunity to contribute to ongoing research, which may involve mouse surgery, histology, imaging and/or behavioral assays. Extensive training will be provided.
Bachelor's degree in science and some bench experience in molecular or cellular biology are required. Must have excellent organization and communication skills. The candidate should above all be highly motivated, excited about research and willing to work in a fast-paced environment. Experience with techniques mentioned above is preferred, but not a requirement.
