InMotion HAND Robot

Gross motor skills such as reach, grasp and release carried out by hands and arms are essential for everyday tasks. Resulting from a stroke, spinal cord injury, cerebral palsy, traumatic brain injury, or other neurological conditions, hand and arm gross motor impairments may appear caused by weakness in hand and arm muscles and neurological functions.

Devised to advance hand neruorehabilitation, the InMotion HAND Robot by Bionik Laboratories delivers customizable therapy that adapts to each individual’s needs. InMotion HAND Robot offers gamafication therapy for gross grasp and release motion. When combined with the InMotion Planar or ARM robotic device it works together to provide robotic assisted therapy for functional reach-grasp-release movement.

There are several distinct therapy exercises for the InMotion HAND Robot:

  • Grasp Adaptive - provides robotic assist-as-needed for grasp and release while recording performance metrics every 80 movements.
  • Reach Adaptive - equips robotic assist-as-needed for reach, grasp and release using both InMotion ARM and InMotion HAND. In this scenario, performance metrics are only recorded for the ”reach” portion of the activity.
  • Pick Adaptive - gears robotic assist-as-needed for reach, grasp, hold, and release of a target.
