Burke Rehabilitation Hosts 38th Annual Wheelchair Games

For more than three decades wheelchair athletes of all ages from the tri-state area and beyond have headed to Burke Rehabilitation Hospital to participate in the annual Wheelchair Games. This year the event took place on September 23– and marks the 38th annual games. 

At the Wheelchair Games, staff from the Restorative Neurology Clinic at Burke Medical Research Institute demonstrated Ekso™, a wearable, technological exoskeleton that enables individuals with various levels of paralysis, hemiparesis, or lower extremity weakness to stand and walk with breakthrough robotic assistance. Researchers from Burke Medical Research Institute shared information about current clinical trials being offered at the Institute.
